Basic Skills as a Foundation for Student Success in California Community Colleges

CARES programs have often seen participants bottleneck at the Teacher Permit level due to access and preparation barriers in completing general education units. This article addresses the role of community colleges in "assisting the under prepared student to attaining the basic skills needed to succeed in college-level work."
